As children, our extended family would close the cottage every Thanksgiving. Bidding it good-bye for another winter, we drove away along Highway 15. Stopping for one last family meal, we’d meet at a roadside restaurant before we would all head off in different directions on Highway 401.

Over the years, and many renovations, the little restaurant had different names on the old marquee sign. Then, one year, it eventually simply showed the message “Closed ’til Open”. 

Island 64 co-owners, Libby and Kris, often head out sourcing and antiquing to supply clients with unique pieces. One fall day the idea of a store that specialized in beautiful finds brewed, and with no firm plan yet, they joked that it was just like that old restaurant… Closed ’til Open.

Today, our little inside joke has blossomed into an online store that we are proud to share with you. We have launched Closed 'til Open as a website, an Instagram shop, and soon in select retail environments.

Island 64 Ltd. and Closed 'til Open strive to push back on aesthetic for aesthetics sake. We want to make unique homes more stylish, more liveable, and more a reflection of those who live there, whether through an Island 64 project, or a perfect piece from the Closed ’til Open shop.
